Breadwinners is a small but multi-award-winning and ambitious charity, and not for profit social enterprise, providing work experience, training and mentoring opportunities for refugees and young people seeking asylum.

Becoming a Trustee

Breadwinners Foundation’s Board of Trustees work together to ensure the charity has the biggest possible impact. As a trustee you will have the opportunity to support our strategic development and will support the Director in setting and overseeing our plans, policies and finances. Breadwinners is a young and small charity, so your expertise will make a real impact.

Your role 

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of the charity. As the Refugee EmploymentTrustee, you will also provide specialist support to the Director in the following areas: 

 

  • Create connections with employers and businesses, building pathways for service users to move into employment, once they have completed the Breadwinners Foundation programme  
  • Advice and support staff to ensure that we are providing the tools and support that Breadwinners need as they leave our training programme and move into employment  
  • Liaise with relevant staff to ensure the programmes are continuously improving, and are relevant, by consulting and revisiting the needs of beneficiaries, and partner organisations.
  • Ensure Breadwinners work is user-led, and ensure beneficiaries voices are heard at board level and across the organisation.
  • Support the director to monitor and evaluate the impact of refugee employment from our programmes for funders and internal and external reports
  • To represent the voice of Breadwinners community of beneficiaries, customers, and partners
  • To assist in researching, identifying and developing new models to achieve Breadwinners mission

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the below points:

  • Available to dedicate at least 8 hrs per quarter to Breadwinners work. 
  • Available to attend Trustee board meetings on weekdays afternoons 5 times a year.
  • Committed to a 2 years term on the Board.
