The Carpenter role:
Under the Supervision of the Chief Engineer/Engineering Supervisor, the carpenter is responsible for
the routine maintenance and repair of all case goods, millwork, panelling & hard floors. A key element
of this role will involve restoration & repairs that are typically associated with a Heritage property.
Through inspection and routine maintenance programs the correct operation of all security and safety
doors is required to ensure they are kept in good working order. Minor Decoration, Installation &
Fabrication works will consist of specialist joinery pieces, Gypsum partition works and finished
surfaces.
The ideal Carpenter will have:
 Knowledge and experienced in the proper care and operation of timber cutting equipment and tools.
 The technical knowledge and expertise to provide electrical and general repair and maintenance to
motors, starters, breakers and associated equipment throughout the hotel.
 High skill level is required in the working and fabrication of joinery pieces.
 A strong a product knowledge in wood care procedures and wood care products is essential.
 Ability to work as part of a dedicated and passionate team.
 Ability to interpret shop drawings and experience in wall & floor product restoration and minor
decoration.
